CTG in minecraft? odyssey-style?

I was just wondering if it would be possible to perform a 'Capture the Gem'-match odyssey-style (with prep-time, without given items and on an unedited map (except for bases and chests obviously)) in Minecraft?

Which two items could replace the gems? lava/water-source block? redstone/lapislazuli? music discs?(unfortunelaty there's no blue disc)

Will a prep-time of let's say 10min even be enough to get the resources for a few pieces of armor or would it take to long to perceivable gear up a team of three or four people in minecraft?

Which size should the accessible area be so that there are enough caves and how to mark the area to stop people from adventuring further outside?

Is building defences necessary if nearly every block can be destroyed by just punching it?

Should there be chests manually hidden in the map with stuff like bows/arrows(since there won't be enough chickens and spiders to give enough resources for a whole match and arrows can't be picked up again) and (splash-)potions in them? What about an Enchantment Table in the bases?


Since someone from OG mentioned CtG in Minecraft earlier on in one of their videos, i guess a few people on this forum already thought about it, so please feel free to share some of your ideas and suggestions in here
